Roma is a town in the western Darling Downs area of Queensland . It is the centre of an agricultural district where wheat, oranges and wine-grapes are grown. Roman was settled in 1867 and was named after Lady Diamantina Roma Bown, a former governor's wife. It has a population of 6763. Like other wine growing districts, Roma and the surrounding area offers a variety of wine tours. Rent a car in Roma and drive to some of the nearby wineyard to sample some of the local wines. Just remember to not sample to much or you may get in trouble!
