Paraburdoo is located about 365 m above sea level in the northern part of Western Australia . It is a typical Pilbara region mining town and situated close to the Hamersley Range National Park . Paraburdoo is believed to have received its name from the white cockatoos that live in the area and which were a ready food supply for the local Aboriginal population.
