Newman is a small town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia . It was built in the 1960s after rich iron deposits near Mount Whaleback . Newman has a population aof about 4,000 and the suburban-style homes provide a contrast to the surrounding desert. Definitely worth a visit if you are already travelling around the Western Australian Coast.
